Chest bump: Vick injures ribs, but nothing broken

That sound you just heard was a huge sigh of relief coming from Eagles headquarters.

Michael Vick underwent an MRI yesterday and was diagnosed with a rib cartilage injury. The quarterback has no broken bones. Vick will work with head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder this week, but his status for Sunday’s game is still uncertain.

“We’ll just see how he feels. This is going to be one of those day-to-day, week-to-week [injuries],” Eagles coach Andy Reid said.

Vick sustained injuries to his second and third ribs, according to Reid. The team hasn’t decided whether to sign another quarterback yet.

“I just have to see, again, how [Vick] progresses here and we’ll have a list together in case we need to go in that direction.”

Vick took part in a team meeting yesterday and told reporters he felt better. Reid wouldn’t disclose who would be taking the first-team snaps at tomorrow’s practice.
