State health official quits

HARRISBURG. Pennsylvania’s Health Secretary Everette James will leave his post Oct. 1 for a new position with the University of Pittsburgh, Gov. Ed Rendell announced yesterday. James, who oversaw the state’s H1N1 vaccination program and implementation of the statewide smoking ban, will become the associate chancellor for health policy and planning.
