Suspect wore fake tattoo sleeves in S. Philly jewelry store robbery

He would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for those meddling surveillance cameras.

Surveillance footage shows a suspect in a violent South Philly jewelry store robbery adjusting his fake tattoo sleeve.

The robbery happened Mondayat the H&Y Royal Jewelers in the 2400 block of S. 23rd Street.

Two suspects were looking at jewelry, when one of them attacked a 53-year old clerk, knocking him down and using zip ties to bind him at knife-point.

They brought the clerk to the rear of the store, where one held the clerk down and another grabbed jewelry from the shelves.

At some point, the employee was able to free himself and operate a robbery alarm. The suspects ran from the store.

They were followed by witnesses, who told police that they left the area in a gold-colored Hyundai Sonata with temporary tags.

Police described the employee’s injuries as minor.

Both suspects are described as white males, between 30 to 35 years old, weighing about 145 pounds. Both wore sunglasses and hats at the time of the robbery. The first suspect stands 5-feet-7 inches, wore a black and whiteplaid, long-sleeved shirt, black pants and black boots. The second suspect — the one with the fake tattoos — stands 5-feet-8 inches and wore a dark t-shirt during the robbery.
