The best Philly cheesesteak is in New Jersey, according to ‘The Goldbergs’

“The Goldbergs” will explore the hotly contested topic of who makes the best Philly cheesesteak tonight on their show.

Wide-eyed youth, Barry Goldberg (Troy Gentile), will argue to his father, Murray Goldberg (Jeff Garlin) and grandfather, Albert “Pops” Solomon (George Segal), that the best Philly cheesesteak is actually in New Jersey.

Pat’s and Geno’s sell the same exact thing right across the street from each other. They’re both fine, but they’re not the best,” he says.

His father and grandfather are clearly perturbed by the claim.

“Stop! There’s no cheesesteak story that ends in Jersey,” Murray interjects.

But Barry seems to be sold on this mysterious cheesesteak shop, recalling that the experience was like “eating the sweet butt meat of an angel.”

The craziest thing about this Jersey cheesesteak is that it was on a poppyseed Kaiser roll.

Curious about trying it out for yourself? Unfortunately, in the teaser clip for tonight’s episode, we’re not even sure if Barry’s favorite Philly cheesesteak spot even exists, because he can’t remember the name.

As for his dad, he prefers Pat’s Steaks, while his grandfather is a Geno’s fan.

Apparently, Murray isn’t a fan of Jim’s Steaks, saying at the beginning of the clip, “If you say Jim’s Steaks, you no longer have a home.”

Of course, when it comes to Philly cheesesteaks, we all have an opinion on where to go and how to order it.

The newest episode of “The Goldbergs” airs tonight at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
