1 dead, 10 injured in Philly shootings

At least one person was killed and 10 other people were injured in separate shootings over the weekend in Philadelphia.

The homicide occurred just before 1 a.m. Saturday near the corner of Kensington Avenue and Albert Street in Kensington. Police said a 32-year-old man died at Temple University Hospital after being shot once in the chest.

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the killing.

On Sunday, at around 1:15 p.m., a 49-year-old man was injured in a shooting on the 1800 block of E. Monmouth Street in Kensington. He was hospitalized with several gunshot wounds and is expected to survive.

A 26-year-old man was shot in the right shoulder at around 8:45 a.m. in the area of the 4200 block of W. Girard Avenue in West Philadelphia, authorities said. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Someone stabbed a 30-year-old man in the torso just after 12:45 a.m. Sunday on the 1800 block of W. Ontario Street in the Tioga section of North Philadelphia, police said.

Medics transported him to the hospital, and he was later listed in stable condition.

Two young men were hospitalized after gunfire erupted just before 12:45 a.m. Sunday on the 2900 block of W. Wishart Street in North Philadelphia.

Police said a 20-year-old man was shot several times, and a 19-year-old man had a wound to his chest. Both are expected to physically recover, according to authorities.

A 36-year-old woman was shot once in the buttocks at around 10:45 p.m. Saturday on the 200 block of E. Clearfield Street in Kensington. She was in stable condition following the shooting.

Three men were hit when shots rang out at around 6 p.m. Saturday on the 5300 block of Glenloch Street in the Wissinoming section of Northeast Philadelphia.

Authorities said a 20-year-old man who was shot twice in the chest was rushed to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

An 18-year-old man was struck in the thigh and foot and suffered a graze wound, and a 19-year-old man was shot in the right calf, police said. Both were listed in stable condition.

In Hunting Park, a 37-year-old man was shot multiple times in his left thigh at around 5:15 a.m. Saturday outside on the 4500 block of N. 5th Street, police said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

Officers were called at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday to the 3800 block of Palmetto Street in Juniata, where they found a 45-year-old man with seven gunshot wounds to his legs and lower back.

He told police he was shot nearby, in front of a cafe on the 1000 block of E. Erie Avenue, investigators said. The victim was listed in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.

No arrests were reported in connection with the weekend’s violence.
