1 dead, 5 wounded in shootings, stabbings across Philadelphia

A man was left dead and five others wounded in various incidents across Philadelphia on Wednesday and Thursday.

Shortly before 9:45 p.m. Wednesday evening, a 19-year-old Black man suffered a gunshot wound to his left shoulder at Park Avenue and Rush Street in North Philadelphia, police said. He died a short time later at Temple University Hospital. The victim was identified as Kydair Stickland, according to authorities.

No weapon was recovered, and no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Homicide Detectives at 215-686-3334. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling or texting 215-686-TIPS (8477). As in all homicide cases in Philadelphia, a $20,000 reward is offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

A 19-year-old woman was shot on the 1400 block of Blavis Street in Nicetown. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to her left leg and was transported by police to Temple University Hospital, where she was placed in stable condition.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday morning, a 44-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his left knee on the 200 block of East Sharpnack Street in East Mount Airy. A PFD Medical unit transported to victim to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was placed in stable condition, police said.

No weapons were recovered, and no arrests have been made in either shooting.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., a double-stabbing occurred on the 3800 block of North Marshall Street in Huntington Park, authorities said.

The first victim, a 38-year-old woman, suffered a stab wound to her right arm. She was transported by police to Temple University Hospital, where she was placed in stable condition, police said.

The second victim, a 37-year-old man, was stabbed multiple times, suffering wounds to his right arm, face, and back. He was also transported to Temple University Hospital by police and was placed in critical condition upon arrival, authorities said.

No weapons were recovered, and no arrests have been made, according to authorities.

Thursday morning, shortly before 9:30 a.m., a 46-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg on the 4500 block of Longshore Avenue in Tacony. He was transported to Jefferson Torresdale by a PFD-Medic Unit, where he was placed in stable condition, authorities said. No weapons were recovered, and no arrests have been made.

Since the start of the year, Philadelphia has recorded 662 shooting victims, down 39% from the same date in 2023, according to police data.
