One man was killed and three others were injured in violent incidents over the weekend, authorities said.

Two men were struck when gunfire erupted at around 1:45 p.m. Saturday on the 1200 block of Rising Sun Avenue, near Temple University Hospital in North Philadelphia, according to police.

The gunshot victims, both 21 years old, were taken to the nearby medical center, investigators said. One of them had been shot in his upper chest, and he died of his injuries a short time later, the Philadelphia Police Department said.

Authorities said the other victim sustained a wound to his lip, and he is expected to physically recover.

Officers recovered two firearms at the scene, but the PPD said no arrests were made in the aftermath of the incident.

Since the start of the year, 63 people have been killed in the city, a 36% decrease compared to the same time in 2023 and the lowest number on March 24 since 2016, police data indicates.

On Sunday, at around 3:30 a.m., a 32-year-old man was shot once in his wrist at the corner of 11th and Ruscomb streets in Logan, investigators said. He was hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries.

In West Philadelphia, someone stabbed a 52-year-old man in his left shoulder just before 1 a.m. Saturday outside on the 300 block of N. Salford Street, police said. He was taken to Lankenau Medical Center in stable condition.

The PPD did not report any arrests in connection with the weekend incidents. Anyone with information is asked to call or text 215-686-TIPS (8477).
