1 killed, 4 wounded in Philly shootings

A man was killed and four others were wounded in shootings Monday night and early Tuesday across the city.

Investigators said a gunman shot 37-year-old Anton Ellis multiple times in the back just before 9:15 p.m. Monday on the 100 block of W. Logan Street in Germantown.

Ellis, who lived near the scene, was taken in a private vehicle to Temple University Hospital, where he died at around 9:30 p.m., according to authorities.

Detectives believe an argument sparked the violence, but no one was apprehended in the immediate aftermath of the killing.

In Northeast Philadelphia, a 34-year-old man was shot twice in the arm just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on the 1300 block of Kerper Street in the Castor Gardens neighborhood, police said. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Authorities said a 37-year-old man was shot six times at around 7:30 p.m. Monday on the 4000 block of N. Fairhill Street in the Hunting Park section of North Philadelphia.

He was being treated at Temple University Hospital after the shooting and is expected to survive, according to police.

Two people were injured when gunfire erupted just after 7 p.m. Monday on the 6000 block of Regent Street in Southwest Philadelphia.

Police said a 19-year-old man was hit in the buttocks and leg, and the second victim, a 23-year-old man, was shot nine times, sustaining wounds to his face and abdomen.

Both men were rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition.
