Gun violence left a man dead and five other people wounded in separate incidents over the weekend in Philadelphia.
Someone shot a 37-year-old man multiple times at around 11 p.m. Saturday on the 5800 block of Alter Street in the Cobbs Creek section of West Philadelphia, police said. Responding officers found the man lying on the street, and he died a short time later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, according to law enforcement officials.
The PPD has not publicly identified the victim, and no arrests were reported in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
Shots were fired just before 2:15 p.m. Sunday near 24th and Turner streets in North Philadelphia, and one victim was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with nonlife-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Police released no other details Sunday afternoon, including whether the victim is a child.
On Saturday, at around 3:30 p.m., a 29-year-old man walked into Temple University Hospital after he was shot in Kensington, investigators said. He was listed in stable condition.
Detectives believe the shooting was domestic in nature and occurred on the 1800 block of E. Willard Street. Lawrence Evans, 26, was arrested and is set to be charged with aggravated assault and other crimes, a PPD spokesperson said.
Two women were struck when gunfire erupted at around 10:30 p.m. Friday on the 2600 block of Norris Court, part of the Philadelphia Housing Authority’s James W. Johnson Homes development, authorities said.
Officers rushed a 20-year-old woman to the hospital with wounds to her back and arm, according to police. The second victim, also a 20-year-old woman, was grazed in the arm by a bullet, officials added. Both women are expected to survive.
Police found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg at around 9:45 p.m. Friday on the 1400 block of Vine Street and took him to Jefferson University Hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Investigators believe he may have been injured in an earlier shooting at 6th Street and Girard Avenue in North Philadelphia.

PPD data shows that homicides are down 18% in Philadelphia compared to the same date last year, and the number of people shot has also decreased 10%.
