A man was killed and five other people were wounded in violence Monday night into Tuesday morning across Philadelphia.

Investigators said a 32-year-old man died after being shot just after 9:15 p.m. Monday during an exchange of gunfire on the 700 block of E. Willard Street in Kensington. Police have not publicly identified him.

Officers responding to the incident took two people into custody and recovered a gun, according to authorities. The PPD did not provide further information about the suspects Tuesday.

Early Tuesday, just after 1 a.m., someone stabbed a 34-year-old man in the neck at Mick’s Inn, a bar at Clearfield and Belgrade streets in Port Richmond, police said. The victim was hospitalized in stable condition.

No arrests were reported, and authorities said the male suspect fled the area in a black SUV.

The PPD is also looking for a man in connection with a stabbing that happened just after 10:30 p.m. Monday on the 1100 block of N. 41st Street in West Philadelphia. Investigators said a 29-year-old man was being treated for wounds to his back and hand. He is expected to physically recover.

About 15 minutes earlier, a robbery developed into a shootout in North Philadelphia, according to the PPD.

Detectives believe a 29-year-old man robbed a 30-year-old man on the 2000 block of Germantown Avenue. A few minutes later, at around 10:15 p.m., a gunfight between the pair ensued on the nearby 500 block of Diamond Street.

The 29-year-old man was shot multiple times, and officers took him to Temple University Hospital in critical condition, police said. Meanwhile, the 30-year-old sustained wounds to both legs and was listed in stable condition, according to investigators.

Authorities said both men are being held, indicating that they could both face charges. Fourteen spent shell casings were found at the scene, the PPD added.

Someone shot a 26-year-old man several times throughout his body at around 8 p.m. Monday on the 2000 block of W. York Street in North Philadelphia, police said. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, and no one was apprehended in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to call or text the PPD’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).

Heading into New Year’s Eve, 266 people had been murdered in 2024 in Philadelphia, down about 35% from last year, police data shows. Crime in almost every other category has also declined.
