1 killed, 6 injured in weekend shootings

Weekend shootings left one man dead and at least six other people injured across Philadelphia, authorities said.

A 32-year-old man was killed when someone shot him twice in the chest and once in the hip just before 2:45 a.m. Saturday on the 2400 block of Stanley Street in Strawberry Mansion, police said.

No arrests have been reported, and the PPD did not provide details about a possible motive. Authorities also did not publicly identify the victim.

On Sunday, at around 2 p.m., a 39-year-old man was shot in his left thigh at the corner of 63rd Street and Paschall Avenue in the Elmwood section of Southwest Philadelphia, investigators said.

He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and listed in stable condition, according to police.

In North Philadelphia, shots were fired at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday on the 2300 block of N. 4th Street, leaving a 58-year-old man with a wound to his thigh, authorities said. He was hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, at around 11:30 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in his leg on the 2500 block of N. Colorado Street in North Philadelphia, according to police. He was hospitalized in stable condition following the shooting.

A 34-year-old man showed up to Temple University Hospital with a gunshot wound to his ankle at around 7 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. The shooting, investigators said, occurred on the 1800 block of W. Huntingdon Street in North Philadelphia.

The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to the PPD.

In East Germantown, a 24-year-old man was shot in both legs after gunfire erupted just after 12:45 p.m. Saturday on the 200 block of E. Ashmead Street, police said. He was later listed in stable condition at Einstein Medical Center.

Early Saturday morning, at around 2 a.m., officers were called to the 3900 block of Brown Street in Mantua and found a male gunshot victim inside a home, according to authorities.

Detectives determined the man, 44, had been shot earlier on the 5200 block of Frankford Avenue, near SEPTA’s Frankford Transportation Center. Police said he was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center with a wound to his leg and is expected to survive.
