A teenager was found dead Monday night inside a house in Kingsessing, investigators said.
Hamza Jackson, 19, of West Philadelphia, was discovered by a friend just after 8 p.m. in a second-floor bedroom of a house on the 2000 block of S. Frazier Street, authorities said. He had a gunshot wound to his head.
Homicide detectives continue to investigate the killing, and police reported no arrests.
Seven others were injured in shootings Monday night and early Tuesday. This year, 1,373 people have been shot in Philadelphia, an increase of 41% compared to the same point in 2019, according to police statistics.
Just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, a 46-year-old man was shot once in the left thigh on the 2500 block of Bonaffon Street in the Elmwood section of Southwest Philadelphia, authorities said.
He was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in a private vehicle and is listed in stable condition, according to police.
Two people were hospitalized after shots rang out at around 1:00 a.m. on the 2900 block of N. 27th Street in North Philadelphia.
One of the victims, a 29-year-old woman, was standing outside a corner deli when she was caught in the crossfire, according to 6ABC.
Police said she was shot in the breast and back. Officers rushed her to the hospital, where she was in critical condition.
A 32-year-old man showed up at Temple University Hospital with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. Authorities consider him to be a suspect in the shooting, and he is being held as a prisoner.
Detectives are searching for a second male suspect who fled the scene.
In East Germantown, a 36-year-old man was shot in the abdomen at 11:45 p.m. Monday on the 5800 block of Musgrave Street, police said. He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in critical condition.
About an hour earlier, a 25-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were shot on the 4400 block of Holden Street in West Philadelphia, authorities said.
The male victim was treated for a gunshot wound to his left thigh, and the woman was grazed in the ear, police said. Neither suffered life-threatening injuries.
Officers were called just after 8:30 p.m. Monday to the 600 block of Alcott Street in Lawncrest, where they found a 33-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to her chest and side, authorities said.
She was rushed to Einstein and listed in critical condition. No arrests have been made.
Gas station looted in Fairhill
Police are looking for a group of people who ransacked a gas station Friday night in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia.
The looting occurred just before 10 p.m. at the Speedway at 5th Street and Lehigh Avenue, authorities said. Detectives released surveillance video of the incident Tuesday.
One of the suspects pulled out the cash register drawer, crawled into the small store and opened the back door. People flooded in, taking hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise, including cartons of cigarettes, investigators said.
