A man was killed and at least eight other people were wounded in gun violence Saturday and early Sunday in Philadelphia, according to information provided by police.
In Frankford, an adult man died a short time after he was shot at around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, reportedly outside a sports bar on the 5000 block of Frankford Avenue.
The PPD has not identified the victim, and a department spokesperson said Sunday that they could not provide his exact age. There was no word on an arrest in the immediate aftermath of the killing.
Police responded at around 3:45 a.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting on the 5900 block of Haverford Avenue in West Philadelphia. Officers were notified that two male gunshot victims had been taken to Lankenau Medical Center and were listed in stable condition, authorities said.
Officers were called just before 3 a.m. Sunday to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where a 30-year-old man had shown up with a gunshot wound to his head, investigators said. He was transferred to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.
Detectives have not determined where the shooting occurred, police said.
On Saturday, at around 11:15 p.m., someone shot a 17-year-old girl in the leg on the 5800 block of Sylvester Street in the Oxford Circle neighborhood, according to authorities. She was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Crime scene investigators recovered five spent shell casings that appeared to come from at least two separate guns, according to the PPD. No one was arrested immediately following the shooting.
In nearby Castor Gardens, two people, including a teenager, were wounded when shots were fired at around 7 p.m. Saturday on the 7100 block of Lynford Street, authorities said.
Police said a 33-year-old man who had been shot in his head and shoulder was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in “extremely critical condition.” A 14-year-old boy was struck in the leg and is expected to survive, according to the PPD.
A person was apprehended at the scene, and officers also recovered a gun, investigators said. No further details were available as of Sunday.
Earlier, at around 3 p.m., a 20-year-old man arrived at Temple Hospital with a wound to his leg following a shooting on the 600 block of W. Hunting Park Avenue in the Hunting Park neighborhood, police said. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
An 18-year-old man went to Lankenau Hospital just before 1:45 p.m. Saturday after he was shot twice near the corner of City and Lancaster avenues in Overbrook, investigators said. He was listed in stable condition, according to the PPD.

Since the start of the year, 60 homicides have been documented in Philadelphia, down 31% compared to the same date in 2024 and the fewest in at least 17 years, according to PPD data. The number of people who have been shot has also dropped by 20%.
