10 injured in Philly shootings

Ten people were injured in shootings in less than 24 hours Sunday into Monday, including two teenage girls who were struck by gunfire in Kensington.

Three people arrived at Temple University Hospital after shots rang out at about 4 p.m. Sunday on the 1900 block of E. Somerset Street, police said.

A 15-year-old girl was struck in the leg, and an 18-year-old woman was shot multiple times, receiving wounds to her back and leg. Both teens were listed in critical condition, authorities said.

The third victim, a 21-year-old man, was hit in the right hand. He is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

More than 1,720 people have been shot in Philadelphia this year, a 47% jump compared to this time last year, according to police statistics. Shooting incidents, which include when a gun is fired but no one is hit, are up nearly 60%.

In West Oak Lane, a 35-year-old man was shot eight times throughout his body just before noon Monday on the 7500 block of Walnut Lane. He showed up to Albert Einstein Medical Center in a private vehicle and was listed in critical condition, police said.

A gunman opened fire just after 8 a.m. Monday, striking a man several times in the abdomen on 57th Street just north of Market Street in West Philadelphia.

Authorities, who described the victim as approximately 50 years old, said he was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in extremely critical condition.

Police said a 34-year-old man was shot once in the lower left leg just after 1 a.m. Monday on the 1800 block of E. Tioga Street in Harrowgate. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Investigators described the suspect as a Hispanic man who was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans.

At around 11:45 p.m. Sunday, a 29-year-old man was shot three times in the right leg on the 2800 block of Lee Street in Kensington, authorities said. He was transported to Temple Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

A 20-year-old man arrived at Jefferson Methodist Hospital just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday after he was shot in his left side at the corner of 18th and Johnston streets in South Philadelphia, police said.

The victim is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.

Authorities said a 33-year-old man was stabbed four times, including twice in the back, at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday outside a dollar store on the 3100 block of Frankford Avenue in Kensington.

Officers rushed him to Jefferson Frankford Hospital, where he is in critical condition, according to police.

In North Philadelphia, a 21-year-old man was shot once in the left leg at 4:30 p.m. on the 100 block of W. Ontario Street. He arrived at Temple Hospital and is in stable condition, police said.

A 53-year-old man was also shot in the left leg at around 1 p.m. Sunday on the 3000 block of C Street in Kensington, authorities said. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Police reported no arrests in connection with any of the incidents.
