Two people were sent to the hospital after a shooting in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood late Tuesday morning, prompting a lockdown at a nearby school.
Philadelphia police said an 18-year-old woman was shot at 11:15 a.m. on the 2400 block of Diamond Street. A young man believed to be in his late teens or early 20s was found unresponsive. Both were transported to the hospital, 6ABC and CBS3 reported.
The Philadelphia School District ordered a lockdown at William Dick Elementary School, a kindergarten through eighth grade public school at 2498 Diamond St.
The school declined to comment on whether the lockdown was still in effect as of 2 p.m.
A spokesperson for the school district said he wasn’t sure when the lockdown was lifted, but he received notice of it around 1 p.m.
Students resumed their classes under the lockdown order as usual, and dismissal will not be affected by the incident.
