2 killed, 3-year-old wounded in Philly shootings

At least two people were killed and several others were wounded — including a 3-year-old boy — in separate shootings over the weekend across Philadelphia.

Medics pronounced a 29-year-old man dead after he was shot once in the head at around 6:30 a.m. Sunday on the 2500 block of Welsh Road in Northeast Philadelphia, authorities said.

On Saturday, just after 3:30 a.m., a 51-year-old man was killed after being shot once in the face and twice in the chest outside on the 1400 block of W. Toronto Street in North Philadelphia, according to police.

No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of either homicide.

A 3-year-old boy was shot once in the left leg at around 12:15 a.m. Sunday on the 3600 block of Aramingo Avenue in Port Richmond, police said.

He was driven to Episcopal Hospital and transferred to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to authorities.

Investigators described the suspect as a man driving a black unmarked truck with tinted windows and a tow hitch.

Elsewhere, just before 7 a.m. Sunday, a 27-year-old man was stabbed in the lower abdomen and right thigh on the 100 block of E. Allegheny Avenue in Kensington, police said. He was later listed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital.

In South Philadelphia, a 29-year-old man was shot twice in the right leg at around 3 a.m. Sunday on the 1500 block of S. Bambrey Street, according to authorities. He is expected to physically recover.

Officers rushed a 42-year-old man to Temple University Hospital after he was stabbed in the neck just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday on the 3700 block of N. 18th Street in the Tioga section of North Philadelphia.

Police apprehended a suspect and found a knife. The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Earlier, at around 12:05 a.m. Sunday, a 17-year-old boy was shot inside a property on the 1600 block of W. Ontario Street, also in the Tioga neighborhood. Police said he was transported to Temple University Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

In Juniata, a man in his 20s was shot twice in the right leg at around 10 p.m. outside on the 4600 block of H Street, authorities said. He is expected to physically recover.

A 38-year-old man was stabbed in the chest at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday inside a property on the 2900 block of N. 12th Street in North Philadelphia. His injuries were not expected to be life-threatening, police said.

Investigators arrested a suspect and recovered a weapon but did not release further details.

Just after 7:45 p.m. Saturday, someone shot a 30-year-old man twice in the right leg and twice in the right arm on the 3900 block of Glendale Street in Juniata. He was taken to Jefferson Frankford Hospital in stable condition.

Also on Saturday night, sometime around 7 p.m., a 29-year-old man was shot once in the right knee near the corner of Sylvania Street and Wayne Avenue in Germantown, investigators said.

He is being treated at Temple University Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries.

In Overbrook, a 27-year-old man was shot in the right arm at around 3:15 p.m. Saturday on the 6000 block of Lancaster Avenue, according to police. He is expected to survive.
