2 killed, 4 injured in weekend shootings across Philadelphia

Two men were killed and four other people were wounded in gun violence over the weekend in Philadelphia.

Officers responded at around 12:15 a.m. Sunday to the 6500 block of Grays Avenue in the Elmwood section of Southwest Philadelphia, where they found a 26-year-old man who had been shot multiple times, police said.

He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died a short time later, according to authorities.

A 19-year-old man was killed after being shot several times just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday on the 5000 block of Duffield Street in Frankford, investigators said.

Police have not identified either victim, and no arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of the shootings. In South Philadelphia, someone shot a woman once in her torso just after 11:15 p.m. Saturday on the 500 block of Mountain Street, authorities said. Officers rushed the victim, described as 30 to 40 years old, to Jefferson University Hospital, where she was being treated for serious injuries, according to police.

Investigators said a firearm was recovered at the scene, but no one was apprehended.

Earlier Saturday, at around 11:15 a.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in his stomach in an alley running behind the 400 block of Robbins Street in Lawncrest, police said. He is expected to survive.

A 29-year-old woman showed up to Temple University Hospital just after 1:45 a.m. Saturday after she was shot in her leg on North 37th Street in West Philadelphia, according to authorities.

She was listed in stable condition, and police detained a man for further investigation, PPD officials said.

Less than 30 minutes earlier, at around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, a 27-year-old man was brought to Jefferson Frankford Hospital with a gunshot wound to his thigh, police said. His injuries are not life-threatening, and investigators were not sure where the shooting occurred, authorities said.
