At least two people were killed and five people were wounded in violence over the weekend across Philadelphia, law enforcement said.
Both homicides occurred in Southwest Philadelphia.
Police said officers responding to a report of a shooting found a 33-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds just after 2:45 a.m. Sunday on the 2100 block of Cemetery Avenue in the Mount Moriah area. He was declared dead a short time later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
No arrests were reported in the immediate aftermath of the killing, and the PPD has not publicly identified the victim.
A 56-year-old man was arrested after a woman, also 56, was stabbed to death Saturday night in the Kingsessing neighborhood, investigators said.
Officers were called at around 9:30 p.m. to the 1800 block of S. Yewdall Street, where they found the woman laid out on the street with a stab wound to the chest, authorities said. She was taken to Penn Presbyterian, where she succumbed to her injuries, police added. The PPD did not provide a motive or identify the victim or suspect.
Earlier Saturday, at around 2:45 a.m., a 28-year-old man showed up at Jefferson Methodist Hospital with a wound to his left thigh after shots were fired on the 1400 block of S. 24th Street in South Philadelphia, investigators said. He was listed in stable condition.
Two young women were hospitalized when gunfire erupted during a fight stemming from a gathering at a short-term rental property, or an “Airbnb party,” as the PPD put it in an incident report.
The shooting happened at around 11:15 p.m. Friday on the 2300 block of N. 18th Street in North Philadelphia. Investigators believe a man fired a gun into a crowd after an altercation at a nearby Airbnb.
An 18-year-old woman was shot in the face and taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition, authorities said. The other victim, a 20-year-old woman, was struck in the stomach, and her injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to police.
Earlier, at around 9:45 p.m. Friday, a 12-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet when someone began shooting on the 2200 block of N. Delhi Street in North Philadelphia, authorities said. She was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to the PPD.
Police said a 25-year-old man was in critical condition after he was shot several times in his face and body just after 9:15 p.m. Friday on the 1800 block of N. 27th Street, also in North Philadelphia.
He was standing outside of a store when a dark-colored Acura parked, and four men got out of the car, investigators said. They began talking, and another man approached on foot and began shooting at close-range, according to police. One of the men from the Acura also opened fire, detectives said. Both shooters allegedly fled in the car.

Homicides are down 17% in Philadelphia compared to the same date last year, and the number of shooting victims has also dropped nearly 10%, according to police data.
