2 killed, 5 wounded in Monday night shootings

One person was killed and two others were injured after a gunman opened fire Monday night outside a beer distributor in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.

Harold Haughton, 51, of West Philadelphia, was hit multiple times and died a short time after the shooting, which occurred at around 10 p.m. at the corner of 57th Street and Elmwood Avenue, according to authorities.

Police took a 38-year-old man who had been shot in the left leg to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and a 34-year-old man who was grazed in the left thigh showed up at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.

Both were later listed in stable condition, according to police.

Earlier, two teenagers were shot while sitting inside an SUV at the One & Olney shopping center at 101 E. Olney Avenue in Olney, authorities said.

Investigators said a white sedan pulled into the parking lot just before 7:15 p.m. Monday and three men wearing black ski masks jumped out and immediately began firing.

Khyrie Isaac, 18, who lived in Lawncrest, was killed, and a 19-year-old woman was taken to Einstein Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds. She was in critical condition, according to police.

Since the beginning of 2021, 339 people have been killed in Philadelphia, up 25% compared to this time last year and higher than the city’s year-end homicides totals from 2008 to 2017.

Two 17-year-old boys were hospitalized after shots erupted at around 11:15 p.m. Monday inside a unit at the Philadelphia Housing Authority’s Raymond Rosen Manor development in North Philadelphia.

Authorities said the shooting occurred on the 2400 block of Edgley Street. One of the boys was shot twice in the shoulder and once in the right thigh; the other was struck in the left ankle and right thigh.

Both are expected to physically recover, according to police.

No arrests were reported in the immediate aftermath of any of the shootings.
