3 killed, 8 injured in Philadelphia shootings

Three men were killed and eight other people were wounded in separate shootings Wednesday night and early Thursday in Philadelphia.

Three gunmen fled in a blue Chevrolet after a 34-year-old man was shot in the chest at around 1:15 p.m. Thursday on the 4700 block of N. Marvine Street in Logan, investigators said. The victim died a short time later.

A 63-year-old man died after being shot multiple times in the head just before 12:45 p.m. Thursday on the 200 block of E. Sharpnack Street in East Mount Airy, authorities said.

Officers were called just before 2:45 a.m. Thursday to the 3300 block of W. Cheltenham Avenue in the Cedarbrook neighborhood, on the Montgomery County border, for a report of a shooting.

They found a 32-year-old man who had been shot multiple times, police said. Authorities declared him dead at the scene.

Police said a 28-year-old man was being treated for serious injuries after he was shot in the back and hip at around 2:45 p.m. Thursday on the 3200 block of N. Front Street in North Philadelphia.

A 30-year-old woman sustained wounds to both of her legs after shots were fired at around 2:15 a.m. Thursday on 60th Street near Market Street in West Philadelphia, according to investigators. She was hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Gunmen shot a 32-year-old man in the arm just after 2 a.m. Thursday on the 4900 block of N. Broad Street in Logan, police said. Officers took the victim to Einstein Medical Center in stable condition.

On Wednesday, just before midnight, a 20-year-old man was shot in the stomach on the 4000 block of Gilham Street in Mayfair, authorities said. He was later listed in critical condition.

A 39-year-old man was also in critical condition after being shot in the head, according to police. He arrived at Jefferson Frankford Hospital at around 11 p.m. Wednesday, and investigators were still working Thursday to determine the location of the shooting.

In West Philadelphia, officers rushed a 20-year-old man to the hospital after he was shot just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 5900 block of Market Street in West Philadelphia, police said.

The victim suffered wounds to his neck, chest, hip and wrist, and he was in critical condition following the shooting, according to authorities.

Earlier, at around 7:45 p.m., a 38-year-old man walked into Einstein Medical Center after being shot nearby, on the 5500 block of Old York Road in Logan, investigators said. He is expected to physically recover.

A 42-year-old man was hospitalized after he was shot twice in his left wrist at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 6000 block of Regent Street in Southwest Philadelphia, police said. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Authorities on Thursday identified a man who was killed Wednesday evening in North Philadelphia.

Joseph McNair, 42, was shot at around 5 p.m. on the 3100 block of N. Stillman Street and succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
