2 killed in weekend shootings

Two men were killed in separate shootings over the weekend in Philadelphia.

A 38-year-old man died after being shot early Saturday morning in the Eastwick section of Southwest Philadelphia, police said.

Officers responded just after 2:20 a.m. to the 7700 block of Lindbergh Boulevard, where they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to authorities. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

On Friday, just before 10:30 p.m., a 37-year-old man was shot several times near the corner of Bridge Street and Torresdale Avenue in Frankford, police said. He died a short time later at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.

No one was apprehended in the immediate aftermath of either killing, and police have not publicly identified the victims.

In other crime news from the weekend, a 47-year-old man was grazed by a bullet at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday on the 300 block of N. 63rd Street in West Philadelphia, police said. He was treated for a wound to the right side of his back.

Also in West Philadelphia, someone shot a 33-year-old man twice in his left thigh at around 3 a.m. Sunday on the 4100 block of Lancaster Avenue in the Powelton neighborhood, authorities said. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Three men were seriously injured after shots rang out at around 11:45 p.m. Friday on the 1100 block of N. 40th Street, also in West Philadelphia, according to police.

Investigators said a 28-year-old man was shot several times in his abdomen, and a 23-year-old man was shot in his chest. The third victim, whose age was not immediately available, also sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen, police said. All three victims were hospitalized in critical condition.

About 10 minutes earlier, in a separate incident, a man was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition after being shot in the stomach on the 2100 block of S. 17th Street in South Philadelphia, authorities said.

In Southwest Philadelphia, a 40-year-old woman was shot in the face and shoulder at around 8:30 p.m. Friday outside on the 6000 block of Reinhard Street, according to police. She is expected to survive.
