2 teens will face charges in West Philly robbery, shooting

A pair of teenagers are being charged for their alleged role in a robbery and shooting that left two people — including one of the suspects — injured Saturday night in West Philadelphia, police said.

Investigators believe two 16-year-old boys attempted to rob a 26-year-old man just before 9:15 p.m. on the 1200 block of N. 41st Street in the Parkside neighborhood. The victim pulled out a gun, and shots were exchanged, according to authorities.

The PPD said the man was licensed to carry the firearm. He was hospitalized in critical condition following the shooting with wounds to his chest and arm.

One of the teens, Ishmael White, was shot multiple times and taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was also in critical condition, authorities said.

A police spokesperson said Monday that the department does not have any updates on the conditions of the gunshot victims.

Eric Walden, who was not injured, was charged Monday with aggravated assault, robbery, conspiracy, firearm violations and other crimes, according to court records. Police said White will face the same set of charges.

Bail for Walden was set at $2 million, of which he must post 10%. The Defender’s Association, which is representing him, declined to comment on the case.

6ABC reported that police are looking into whether the boys are connected to recent robberies in the same neighborhood.

The PPD is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact their Shooting Investigation Group at 215-686-8270 or call or text 215-686-TIPS (8477).
