2023 Flyers Rookie Camp: Roster and Schedule

The Philadelphia Flyers announced the 2023 Rookie Camp roster and schedule.

On Thursday, a six-day rookie camp will begin at the Flyers Training Center, per Daniel Briere. The regimen includes four practices and two showcase contests at the PPL Center versus the New York Rangers.

Last offseason, the Flyers swept the Rangers in two rookie games. Tyson Foerster scored the game-winner in overtime, 2-1. Olle Lycksell put the nail in the coffin, breaking out the brooms, 5-1.

In all, 25 players will appear at the 2023 Flyers Rookie Camp. The breakdown includes 13 forwards, 10 defensemen, and a pair of goaltenders:

Six players attending the 2023 Flyers Rookie Camp were invited. Those players include Brown, Fauchon, Furry, Gaucher, Sedley, and Maier. At the 2022 Flyers Rookie Camp, Gaucher and Maier were invited, too.

Six rookies join their teammates and the camp invitees. Barkey, Ciernik, Bonk, Mann, Sotheran, and Bjarnason make up the participants drafted by Briere.

Headlining the 2023 Flyers Rookie Camp are Brink, Desnoyers, Foerster, Gendron, Tuomaala, Wisdom, Andrae, Ginning, and Grans. Four of them have prior NHL experience at any length.

Bobby Brink

Mike Yeo was the head coach of the Flyers when Brink made his NHL debut. In ten games, Brink tallied four assists.

On July 10th, 2022, we learned Brink suffered a hip injury. He suffered a torn labrum in his left hip and missed five months. Had Brink remained healthy, he would’ve contended for a roster spot with the Flyers.

Brink scored 28 points (12G, 16A) in 41 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2022-2023 and another assist in the AHL Calder Cup Playoffs.

“I always knew Bob was a super skilled player. He’s everything on the ice; [he’s] super skilled and fast as well. Trying to learn from him because he’s one year older and he’s been around for a longer time.”

Elliot Desnoyers

At the 2023 Flyers Development Camp, Desnoyers took a nasty tumble into the boards during a competitive puck battle with Andrae. Desnoyers favored his right leg. It didn’t keep him out of the Team Clarke versus Team Lindros scrimmage.

Desnoyers dressed in four games during 2022-2023. He didn’t contribute to a scoring play, but he caught the eye of John Tortorella.

In 65 games with the Phantoms, Desnoyers tallied 44 points (23G, 21A) and another goal in the AHL Calder Cup Playoffs.

Tyson Foerster

Foerster finished with a five-game point streak in the NHL, including two multi-point performances versus the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers.

Overall, Foerster lasted eight games in his first NHL stint. He caught on quickly, playing closer to top six minutes in a woeful lineup. During his five-game point streak, Foerster totaled seven points (3G, 4A) and a +5 rating.

“I don’t think I can expect a spot. I still have to work my tail off and try to earn myself a spot on this team.”

Tyson Foerster; 7/2/2023

A favorite to make the Flyers opening night lineup, Foerster knows he has to earn a role. He returns to the 2023 Flyers Rookie Camp to put in the work. Last season, with the Phantoms, Foerster amassed 48 points (20G, 28A) and three more points (2G, 1A) in the postseason.

Adam Ginning

Ginning has the least experience at the NHL level but made an impression on Briere. Briere mentions Ginning when discussing the defensive youth of the Flyers as they enter the rebuild. There is a ton to like about Ginning, who could be a fundamental piece in Philadelphia after more development.

He proved sturdy in his debut alongside Justin Braun on the third pair, where the Flyers prevailed versus the Columbus Blue Jackets.

On the Phantoms, Ginning managed 19 points (3G, 16A) with a +24 rating. It’ll take a strong 2023 Flyers Rookie and Training Camp from Ginning, but there is a chance he could make the NHL lineup, competing against Yegor ZamulaNick Seeler, and Victor Mete.
