This weekend, the streets of Northern Liberties will be lit up with activities when the NoLibs Arts & Commerce Alliance hosts the 13th Annual 2nd Street Festival.
The span of this family-friendly, dog-friendly, all-day festival, reaches over six blocks of North 2nd Street between Girard Avenue and Spring Garden Street and will run from noon to 10 p.m. this Sunday, Aug. 6. The occasion will ultimately boast 200 vendors —including 22 food trucks, over 100 shopping vendors and 55 local artists and crafters—a full line-up of live music on two stages, and plenty of entertainment.
Entertainment-wise, as a release states, the festival’s organizers consider music the foundation of the event, and this year is no different. Both main stages on-site will host performances from Philly favorites and local acts such as the West Philadelphia Orchestra, Slomo Sapiens, and St. James & The Apostles have all been confirmed.
Suds-lovers will also be happy to find 12 different beer gardens including from El Camino, North Bowl, The Standard Tap, and Urban Village Brewing Company. Beverages, beers, and cocktails will be available at each of those locations as well, with featured items from the 2nd Street Festival sponsors, Beam Suntory and Origlio Beverage.
Food-wise, Philadelphians can find offerings from Mom-Mom’s Pierogies, The Curbside Creamery, Caribbean Palm Jamaican Food, The Fish Jawn, The Little Sicilian, and much more, the release also states.
“It is a true joy to bring you the 2nd Street Festival once again. Watching this festival grow into one of the largest street fairs in Philadelphia, if not the country, I can tell you that the growth has been exhilarating,” said Owen Kamihira, President of the Northern Liberties Arts & Commerce Alliance.
Kamihira continued: “As one of the organizers of the 2nd Street Festival and a founding member of the newly formed Northern Liberties Arts & Commerce Alliance, we know first-hand the positive affect events like this have on the neighborhood. North 2nd Street has a vibrant and storied past and what better way to showcase our neighborhood than by inviting all to come out and celebrate it with us.”
The 2nd Street Festival is free to attend, and pay-as-you-go for food and drinks. For more information on this Sunday’s 2nd Street Festival, Philadelphians can visit 2ndstfestival.org or reach out to info@2ndstfestival.org
