3 dead, 6 wounded in weekend shootings

Three men were killed and six other people were wounded in a series of shootings over the weekend across Philadelphia.

Police released little information about most of the incidents, as of Sunday.

They did say officers responded just after 11:15 a.m. Sunday to the 2200 block of S. Felton Street in Southwest Philadelphia, where they found a male gunshot victim. He died a short time later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

On Saturday, just before 5:15 a.m., someone shot a man near where Hunting Park Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard meet, in Nicetown, authorities said. Police rushed the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Minutes earlier, at around 5:10 a.m., a man was fatally shot on the 5000 block of N. Franklin Street in Olney, investigators said. In that case, medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to the PPD.

A man and a woman were hospitalized after gunfire erupted at around 5 a.m. Sunday on the 3800 block of N. Broad Street in Nicetown, police said. No information was provided about their injuries.

About a half hour earlier, just before 4:30 a.m., a man showed up at Chestnut Hill Hospital with a gunshot wound, authorities said. Police added that detectives are not sure where the shooting happened.

In Northeast Philadelphia, a 42-year-old woman came in to Nazareth Hospital at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday after being shot in the face, according to the PPD. She was airlifted to Penn Presbyterian in stable condition.

Investigators believe she was shot during an attempted robbery on the 6500 block of Horrocks Street in the Oxford Circle neighborhood.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the back at around 1:45 p.m. Saturday on the 1600 block of Juniata Street in Nicetown, authorities said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and is expected to survive. Police said three spent 9mm shell casings were found at the scene.

At around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, a man walked into Temple University Hospital after he was shot on the 900 block of Rising Sun Avenue in North Philadelphia, the PPD said. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

No arrests were reported in the aftermath of any of the shootings. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).

Since the beginning of the year, 416 people have been shot, down nearly 9% from the same date in 2024, according to PPD data. Homicides are also currently 18% lower than last year.
