3 injured in shootings across Philadelphia

Three people were shot in separate incidents within a period of about 90 minutes late Monday and early Tuesday in Philadelphia.

At around 11 p.m. Monday, officers were called to the 4700 block of Leiper Street in Frankford, where a 31-year-old man had been shot in the chest, authorities said. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later transferred to another medical center in critical condition, according to police.

Investigators recovered nine .357 caliber fired cartridge casings at the scene, the PPD said.

In West Philadelphia, someone shot a 30-year-old man in the left side of his torso just before midnight on the 6200 block of Arch Street, authorities said. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

Eleven shell casings from two different caliber weapons were found at the scene, according to investigators.

Police said a 32-year-old man walked into Einstein Medical Center at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday with a gunshot wound to his leg. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

PPD officials did not provide a location where the shooting occurred, saying that information was not immediately known. A police spokesperson said no update was available late Tuesday afternoon.

No arrests have been made in the shootings, and authorities did not comment on possible motives. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department’s Shooting Investigation Group at 215-686-8270 or call or text 215-686-TIPS (8477).

Through July 7, 562 people had been shot in Philadelphia this year, down 41% compared to the same date in 2023, according to police data.
