3 killed, 7 wounded in recent shootings

Three people were killed and seven others were wounded in separate shootings over the span of less than 24 hours Monday and Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Someone went into a corner store Monday evening in Nicetown and opened fire, hitting a man multiple times and shooting a 53-year-old woman in the chest, authorities said.

It occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on the 1700 block of W. Butler Street. The male victim, 28-year-old Dwan Jenkins-Stanton, who lived nearby, died at the scene, according to police.

Authorities said the woman was taken to Temple University Hospital, where she was in critical condition.

On Tuesday, just before 4:30 p.m., a 39-year-old man was shot five times — twice in the chest, twice in the right arm and once in the abdomen — on the 6100 block of Morton Street in East Germantown, police said.

He was rushed to Einstein Medical Center and succumbed to his injuries, according to authorities.

More than two hours earlier, just after after 2:15 p.m., a 42-year-old man died shortly after being shot multiple times outside on the 2500 block of Mutter Street in the Fairhill neighborhood, police said.

No arrests were reported in connection with the killings.

A 19-year-old man showed up to Einstein after being shot in the left ankle at around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday on the 1100 block of W. Hunting Park Avenue in Hunting Park, authorities said. He is expected to recover physically.

In Southwest Philadelphia, a 36-year-old man was shot once in the chest and twice in the right thigh just before midnight Monday inside a house on the 6300 block of Theodore Street in the Elmwood section.

Officers rushed him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, according to police.

A few minutes earlier, in a separate incident, a 31-year-old man was shot in the stomach, back and right arm outside on the 1300 block of S. 46th Street in West Philadelphia, authorities said.

He was in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania following the shooting.

In North Philadelphia, at around 6:30 p.m. Monday, a 68-year-old man was struck by gunfire at the corner of Broad Street and Glenwood Avenue. He was hospitalized with a wound to his left foot and is expected to survive.

An 18-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot in the back at around 5:45 p.m. Monday on the 800 block of S. 55th Street in West Philadelphia, authorities said. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to police.

Earlier, just before 5:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot twice in both legs on the 5800 block of Boyer Street in East Germantown. He was taken to Einstein and is listed in stable condition.

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of any of the shootings.
