3 killed in Philly shootings

Three people were killed in separate shootings Tuesday evening and afternoon, including a 32-year-old man who was gunned down inside his car in Feltonville.

Officers were called to the 4900 block of Rosehill Street just after 6:30 p.m., and they found Andrew Rodriguez, who had been shot several times and was in the driver’s seat of a sedan. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators believe the suspects fled in a light-colored Honda CRV, which was last spotted heading south toward Rockland Street.

Just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 26-year-old man died after being shot about 15 minutes earlier on the 2100 block of Taney Terrace, near the Philadelphia Housing Authority’s Wilson Park development in South Philadelphia.

And a 67-year-old woman was fatally shot during a robbery at a check-cashing store at around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Ogontz section of North Philadelphia, authorities said.

Aruna Mittal was shot in the chest, and officers responding to the scene found her in the back room of the business, according to police.

The gunman was a Black male, believed to be in his 40s, with a bald head and salt-and-pepper beard, investigators said.

So far this year, Philadelphia has recorded 486 homicides, a 12% increase over this time in 2020, according to police data.

On Wednesday, in Southwest Philadelphia, a 40-year-old man inside a blue Hyundai was shot in arm at around 3 p.m. on the 2600 block of S. 69th Street in the Elmwood neighborhood, police said. Officers took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.

Earlier in the day, at around 8 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot once in the right leg outside on the 4700 block of Tackawanna Street in Frankford, authorities said. He was taken to Jefferson Frankford Hospital in stable condition.

Also in Frankford, a 20-year-old man was shot at seven or eight times — sustaining wounds to his legs, torso and hands — at around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday on the 5200 block of Oakland Street.

He was later listed in critical condition at Jefferson Frankford.

Two people were hospitalized after someone opened fire just before 8:15 p.m. Tuesday inside a property on the 6600 block of N. Gratz Street in West Oak Lane.

Police said a 22-year-old man was shot twice in the abdomen and twice in the right leg, and the other victim, a 20-year-old man, was struck in the left thigh. Both are expected to survive.

A 60-year-old woman was grazed in the head by a bullet at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in an apartment building lobby on the 1500 block of W. Allegheny Avenue in North Philadelphia, authorities said.

She was taken to Temple University Hospital and is expected to physically recover.

No arrests were reported in the immediate aftermath of any of the shootings.
