Cheeseboards for Dinner With Cypress Grove

Do you love a good cheeseboard? If so, you’re in luck. This Monday night, Cypress Grove, the award-winning pioneer of the artisanal goat cheese movement in America, is bringing their expertise to the City of Brotherly Love for an exciting event. Guests can join in on an interactive cheeseboard-making class featuring goat cheese and other goodies while also learning tips and tricks from Cypress Grove on how to take a few simple ingredients and transform them into a beautiful meal. All participants will receive a personalized cheeseboard dinner, a free drink from Roy-Pitz, free swag and other offerings from partners DiBruno Bros., Olli Salumeria, Rustic Bakery, Columbus Craft Meats and Mike’s Hot Honey. “Sci-Chella” at the Franklin Institute

This month’s exciting edition of the Franklin Institute’s Science After Hours program is themed around “Sci-Chella,” inspired by modern-day music festivals. According to the release, one highlight includes live performances by Fishtown’s own Creem Circus, saxophonist Keegan Tawa, one-man-band The Journeyman, local drag performer Summer and the innovative choreography of Brian Sanders’ JUNK. Other activities include mixology science demonstration on Rum distilling with Boardroom Spirits, X-Ray artistry, electric guitar building and magnetic pickup science with DiPinto Guitars, the science behind record-making, visual sound-wave demos and much more.

“Hua Mulan” 

Head to the Merriam Theater this week to delve into the critically-acclaimed performance of “Hua Mulan” from the Liaoning Ballet of China. The performance brings the classic Chinese fable and beloved story of “Mulan” to life on stage with distinctive Chinese elements and modern aesthetics. The incredible show will be performed for one night only in the City of Brotherly Love and will feature award-winning and internationally renowned dancers.

Tiki Invasion

Bluebird Distilling and Philadelphia Brewing Company are teaming up for one night only to bring the city a colorful tiki pop-up in honor of the release of Philadelphia Brewing Co.’s Tahitian Wheat. This fruity wheat brew will be showcased at the event along with two cocktails courtesy of Bluebird Distilling: a classic Daiquiri ( featuring Bluebird Distilling Sugarcane Rum, lime juice, simple syrup and a GG and BB; $10) and a Dark and Stormy (featuring Bluebird Distilling Dark Rum, Commonwealth Cider Gregarious Ginger and fresh lime; $10). The pop-up will also feature lit-up palm trees, leis, tiki tunes and much more.
