Whiskey Master Class Launch Party 

If you’re a spirits fan, head to the popular Old City hotspot, The Bourse for a unique celebration. The food hall will be hosting the official launch party for local author Lew Bryson’s “Whiskey Master Class: The Ultimate Guide to Understanding Scotch, Bourbon, Rye and more,” and everyone 21+ is invited out to join in on the fun. Guests can learn all about the whiskey being poured while sipping on cocktails made with Lew’s favorite Bluebird Distilling spirit, the American Wheat Whiskey. The event is free to attend, food and beverage are pay-as-you-go.

Glassfest

Philadelphians are in for a true treat this weekend. Glassfest at the Annenberg Center kicks off this Friday, and this three-week festival will be celebrating acclaimed composer Phillip Glass. From Feb. 21- March 14, guests can catch different performances highlighting Glass’ work including showcases from the Grammy Award-winning new-music choir The Crossing, The Philip Glass Ensemble,  theatre artist and filmmaker Nikki Appino, pianist Jenny Lin and many more.

Ghosts, Hosts, Monuments, and Admonishments

The Penn Museum will be hosting a special event this weekend in conjunction with the showing of Michael Rakowitz’s “The Ballad of Special Ops Cody” (which will run at the Museum until March 3.) The event this Friday will feature artist Michael Rakowitz, who according to the release, will discuss, “The invisible enemy should not exist,” his ongoing work highlighting the pillaging of Iraq’s cultural sites. The work from Rakowitz tells an intricate story about the objects that were stolen from the National Museum of Iraq, Baghdad, after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003 and their current whereabouts, including the 7,000 pieces that are still missing.

Party for the Market

Reading Terminal Market’s 10th Annual Party for the Market is extra special this year with the festivities falling on the Market’s 127th birthday. The event will be decked out with a Roaring 20s theme and will feature two stages with live performers, a dance floor, an array of foods from nearly every Market merchant, a variety of donated local craft beers, distilled spirits, and wine, a prohibition-style pop-up casino, a selfie photo station, 1920’s era celebrity impersonators, limited themed gift giveaways, and a silent auction featuring a limited edition autographed Beatles Sgt. This is one party you truly don’t want to miss out on.

La Peg Karaoke

It’s time to sing your hearts out this weekend Philly. This Saturday head to La Peg who partnered with FringeArts and musician Matt “Facebagel” White to host Live Acoustic Karaoke. According to the release, White will perform three 45-minute sets of songs chosen by the audience. The twist? The singer who chooses the song will also join White on stage to perform it. Guests are recommended to arrive by 9 pm for seating.
