Three rounds have come and gone through Kansas City and the Philadelphia Eagles have used all four picks to vastly improve their roster.
Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Tyler Steen, and Sydney Brown have fit both positional needs and have been excellent value for what the Eagles were looking for over the first three rounds of the NFL Draft.
As Day 3 gets closer, Philadelphia has added resources to potentially be a player in the later rounds. Let’s first go over the picks the team has going into the final day of draft coverage.
6th round, No. 188 overall
7th round, No. 219 overall
7th round, No. 230 overall
7th round, No. 248 overall
Now here are five players that could be selected by the team entering the later rounds.
Not many people expect the Eagles to take a quarterback with any of their four selections in the final few rounds of the draft but DTR might be the best value option for the Eagles as a backup both now and in the future. Thompson-Robinson plays the game similarly to Jalen Hurts which would allow the Eagles to run the same offense should their franchise QB go down. He would also be far cheaper than any veteran they pay to bring in as well. DTR remains a player to watch into Day 3.
Philadelphia may be comfortable with their current backs but adding a bell-cow later in the draft could be a tremendous value for the team. Ibrahim doesn’t have breakaway speed, but his power and vision could be a perfect complement to the Eagles room with Boston Scott, Kenneth Gainwell, and Rashaad Penny. Ibrahim draws comparisons to Jordan Howard in the way he runs, which would be a welcome addition.
Philadelphia drafted Tyler Steen to compete for the starting spot at right guard, but the team also needs to have replacements in place at tackle. Jack Driscoll is a serviceable player to be the swing tackle, but adding another lineman could very well be what the team needs to continue to trust their depth along the offensive line. Bostick has the athleticism that Jeff Stoutland usually loves in tackles. He would be the swing tackle that the team had in Andre Dillard.
The team needs a punter to compete with Aaryn Siposs. Siposs’ inconsistencies have caused the Eagles to lose some of the biggest games in recent years and he needs to be replaced. Turk is the best punter in this draft.
Similarly to Bostick, Witt is a tackle in this draft that is a freak athletically that could get Jeff Stoutland to fall in love with. Philadelphia has solidified needs at safety, defensive line, and guard already this draft but securing the swing tackle will be very important with Lane Johnson over 30 years old and coming off major surgery. It’ll take some time for Witt to fill out from the tight-end build he had in college but he’s a project that Stoutland would love to have.
