Routes of Slavery at the Annenberg Center
Grammy Award-winning early music interpreter Jordi Savall makes his Philadelphia debut with the acclaimed program, The Routes of Slavery. Joined by artists representing Europe, Africa, and the Americas, Jordi Savall explores the music through which enslaved peoples preserved their own humanity, forged a sense of community, and found a way to endure. The performance will be preceded by an INSIGHTS talk on slavery by Dr. Kathleen Brown, David Boies Professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania. There will also be a free performance of the show for college students only at 12:30 p.m. on November 1. A moving experience if you are looking for things to do in Philly this week.

Organ and Orchestra Halloween at the Kimmel Center
Experience the spooky and moving sounds of The Philadelphia Orchestra who will fit the part in Halloween costumes. The giant Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ takes center stage. Highlights include Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor and Gounod’s Funeral March of a Marionette. Stick around after the concert for their signature “organ pump” experience—you can go up and lie down on stage to feel the vibrations from the king of instruments.

Pie day at the Ritz Carlton
November 1st is officially Pie Day in Philly. MANNA is hosting this event where pie samples and light refreshments will be served.
