Police said a 6-year-old girl was shot while playing outside with other children Monday afternoon in West Philadelphia.
The girl’s parents were sitting in a car nearby and gunfire hit their windshield, according to Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. They were not injured.
Investigators said a group of young men were being pursued by a dark-colored sedan at the time of the shooting, which occurred just before 3:45 p.m. on the 3800 block of Wyalusing Avenue.
Officers took the girl, who suffered a gunshot wound to her left thigh, to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she was in stable condition.
Outlaw said the block has recently been plagued with violence involving rival groups. Authorities did not report any arrests.
Elsewhere, three men were injured in a broad daylight shooting Tuesday in Logan, according to police.
The gunfire occurred just before noon on the 4500 block of N. 19th Street. Officers took a 22-year-old man who had been shot in the face and a 36-year-old man who had a gunshot wound to his right arm to Temple University Hospital.
A 56-year-old man, the third victim, drove himself to Einstein Medical Center after being shot four times in the abdomen, authorities said.
All of the men are expected to survive.
Police were called to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center at around 9:30 p.m. Monday after a 33-year-old man showed up with a gunshot wound to his stomach. The shooting occurred on 39th Street just north of Market Street, investigators said.
The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, according to authorities.
In Overbrook, a 22-year-old man was shot in the right arm at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on the 1700 block of N. 60th Street, police said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.
A 22-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition following a shooting at around 1:30 p.m. Monday inside a property on the 2100 block of N. 18th Street in North Philadelphia, authorities said.
No one has been apprehended in connection with any of the shootings.
