611 Records plays on with lifestyle brand

Nigel Richards is breathing new life into 611 Lifestyle. Although the clothing line had its small start with the now-defunct record label and store, 611 Records, Richards is expanding the brand — and still taking his cues from music and nightlife. “It comes from club and DJ culture,” he says. “We make bags that are fun and utilitarian because they’re perfect for carrying computers to shows.”

It’s fitting, then, that this weekend’s pop-up store — which will showcase the brand — will include DJs spinning around the clock. The temporary store in Center City is meant as a way to put the clothes right in front of customers, so they can get a true feel for the line rather than just checking it out on the website.

While the brand focuses on men’s fashion, the girls aren’t being neglected. Jennifer Ramsey of Echo Chic has been brought in to help design dresses, jackets, tanks and vests. Richards and crew will continue expanding their men’s designs to feature tees, button-downs and outerwear.

Between the Philly background and nightlife influence, 611 Lifestyle strikes a balance of urban wear and playful music scene. The bags have a retro feel with their metallic sheen, and accessories include belt buckles and iPhone cases.
