8 wounded in weekend violence

At least eight people were injured in shootings and stabbings Saturday and Sunday across Philadelphia.

Police said a 43-year-old woman was seriously wounded after she was stabbed once in her right side during a robbery just after 2 a.m. Sunday on the 3500 block of Kensington Avenue in Harrowgate.

Medics took her to Temple University Hospital, according to authorities. No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

Two men were hospitalized following a stabbing that happened at around 12:05 a.m. Sunday inside a house on the 1400 block of S. Mole Street in Point Breeze, investigators said.

A 38-year-old man was stabbed four times in the back, and a 28-year-old man sustained stab wounds to his back and right shoulder, police said. Both were later listed in stable condition at Jefferson University Hospital.

Officers recovered a knife at the scene, and both men are being held in police custody pending further investigation, according to the PPD.

In Tacony, two women were stabbed at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on the 6600 block of Gillespie Street, according to authorities.

Investigators said a 22-year-old woman was wounded in her left hand, and the other victim, 23, was stabbed in her right hand. Both were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. The PPD reported no arrests.

Police were called just after 9 p.m. Saturday to the 1100 block of S. 53rd Street in Kingsessing, where they found a 38-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his back, authorities said. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.

Investigators said no one was apprehended in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

A 26-year-old man was in critical condition after he was shot several times at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday on the 100 block of N. 49th Street in West Philadelphia, police said. No arrests have been reported.

Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, someone shot a 45-year-old man in his back and arm on the 1500 block of S. Ringgold Street in South Philadelphia, according to authorities. He was hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries, and no suspects are in custody.
