9 shot Wednesday in Philly

Nine people were shot within a span of about six hours Wednesday in Philadelphia, authorities said.

A 21-year-old man died at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center just before 7 p.m. after he was shot five times about a half an hour earlier on the 1200 block of N. 60th Street in West Philadelphia, police said.

No arrests have been made, authorities said.

Later Wednesday, just after 10:30 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot in the right leg on the 2800 block of Saxton Road in the Far Northeast. His injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

Four people were injured when gunfire broke out at around 9:30 p.m. on the 5500 block of Chew Avenue in East Germantown.

A 22-year-old woman, 19-year-old woman, 19-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, all with gunshot wounds to the left leg. They were listed in stable condition, police said.

Officers were at Einstein about 20 minutes earlier, after an 18-year-old man showed up with a gunshot wound to his jaw.

Investigators said the shooting happened inside a home on the 6300 block of N. Woodstock Street in East Germantown. An arrest was made, but police released no further details.

There was no word on the victim’s condition.

Officers rushed a 49-year-old man to the hospital after he was shot in the face just before 5 p.m. on the 2600 block of N. Broad Street in North Philadelphia, police said. He was listed in stable condition, according to authorities.

A 22-year-old man drove himself to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after he was shot at around 4:30 p.m. on the 300 block of N. 62nd Street in West Philadelphia.

The victim, who had gunshot wounds to his lower back and left arm, was in critical condition, police said.

Two women were hospitalized after a stabbing at around 8 p.m. Wednesday in Frankford, authorities said.

A 41-year-old woman was stabbed in the chest and left arm, while a 38-year-old woman had wounds to her left arm and right hand. Neither had life-threatening injuries, according to police.

No one has been arrested, and police have not provided a motive.

2 killed in West Philly crash

Two women were killed and a girl was injured when a driver jumped a curb and hit them while they were walking Wednesday night in the Mantua section of West Philadelphia.

The crash occurred at around 9:30 p.m. near 35th and Mt. Vernon streets, authorities said. The car was travelling east on Mt. Vernon when it veered off, striking the three pedestrians, a parked car and a house on 35th Street.

A 30-year-old woman was reportedly struck so hard she went through the door of a property and landed in the living room. Police identified her as Nicole Fundenberg.

Zenobia Murray, 58, was pronounced dead just before 10 p.m. Both women lived on the block, authorities said.

The third victim, a 14-year-old girl, was taken to Penn Presbyterian in stable condition, according to police.

Investigators said the driver was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Detectives continue to investigate the crash.
