A baking class just for the guys

Attention, men: Baker Holly Ricciardi will show you how to impress your sweetie pie — or treat yourself — with a guys-only pie-making class on Jan. 23 at Magpie Artisan Pie Boutique (1622 South St.). The three-hour course, which has a few spots open, is for 10 beer-loving guys who want to learn how to make Ricciardi’s apple cheddar crumb pie while sampling Saint Benjamin Brewing Company’s English Mild Ale, passed around by brewers Tim Patton and Christina Burris. For $90, you’ll get the lesson, the beer, a dinner of shepherd’s pie with cauliflower mash and a green salad, a slice of butterscotch bourbon pie and, of course, the pie you make. Bonus points to the aspiring baker who counts how many times the word “pie” is said during the evening.
