The conclusion of Matchday 8 in MLS means we’re almost through a quarter of the season already and while the way the table is starting to shape up might not be what was expected coming into the 2023 campaign, It’s hard to ignore some newer teams rising to the top and drawing eyes from around the league. But Matchday 8 was always going to be co-headlined by two of MLS’ strongest Regional derbies with Portland Timbers hosting last year’s CCL winners, Seattle Sounders on Saturday night, and LA Galaxy hosting last year’s Supporters Shield and MLS Cup Winners, LAFC on Sunday.
Union scored 2 second-half goals in a matter of minutes to earn a hard-fought draw on the road in Chicago, Montreal’s struggles continue with a 1-0 loss at home to Wayne Rooney’s D.C. United, And LA Galaxy’s 3-2 loss at home to their crosstown rivals surely places LAFC as the top dog in the city of Angels. Oh yeah, and SKC still didn’t score. Take a look back at all the action from Matchday 8 below
Chicago Fire 2 – 2 Philadelphia Union
Charlotte FC 2 – 2 Colorado Rapids
Columbus Crew 1 – 1 New England Revolution

Matchday 9 marks the second week in a row with an MLS game being played on Sunday afternoon, which is excellent news for those that have been watching significantly less MLS this season with the new schedule layout, especially for the fans that attend matches.

Matchday 9 should be another exciting one with a few questions to be answered – Will LAFC or Philadelphia rotate with their CCL clash taking place the following mid-week? Can Galay or SKC find their first win? How will Pat Noonan and FC Cincinnati bounce back after their humbling 5-1 loss to St Louis?
