A new Peruvian restaurant is coming to The Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons

Philly could use some more Peruvian restaurants. Lucky for us, Chalaco’s Ceviche and Pisco Bar (1030 N. 2nd St.) will be coming to The Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons in Liberties Walk in 2018.

Taking over where Bar Ferdinand used to be, the new restaurant and bar is inspired by Callao, one of Peru’s main port cities. The drink menu will also feature some of the most eclectic pisco cocktails on the East Coast.

(Pisco, in case you didn’t know, is a type of brandy made in Chile and Peru.)

In terms of food, the menu will feature Peruvian ceviches and other Peruvian favorites like lomo saltado and Peruvian charbroiled chicken. They plan to be open for  lunch, dinner, happy hour and late night happy hour to accommodate foodies of all kinds.

The 2,500-square foot space will seat around 90 people with outdoor seating to be added by the spring of 2018.

Owners are Giovanni Delfino, Francisco Acevedo and Carmen Silva and Jose Luis Herrera will serve as Executive Chef.

The restaurant and bar is named after the hometown of Acevedo and Silva, Callao, where city residents are known as “Chalacos.”
