A night of theatre and meat pie

Looking for something out-of-the-box to do after work this week? Inis Nua Theatre company, which is dedicated to producing contemporary plays from Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales, returns to Fergie’s Pub for the Pop-up Play in a Pub series and this week, they will be performing “How to Ruin a Life from the Comfort of Your Own Beanbag,” by Darren Davidson and Tim Price.

This one-man play features a lecture from a self-professed “reformed” (played by David Pica) hacker who covers the nitty gritties of cyber mischief like stalking, trolling and theft.

“Tim Price worked with an actual convicted hacker to make this play that’s funny but also chilling knowing that our online presence is a vulnerability,” says Inis Nua director, Tom Reing. “If people like Black Mirror, they’re gonna like this.”

Perhaps fans of “Mr. Robot” will also be into it.

Only 45-minutes in length, it’s the perfect amount of time to get your daily dose of culture after a long day at the office, and of course, fill up on a beverage and either meat or veggie pie.

“There’s a rich tradition of pub theatre in the UK and Ireland,” adds Reing.

“How to Ruin a Life from the Comfort of Your Own Beanbag” will run June 20-22 at 6 p.m. at Fergie’s Pub, located at 1214 Sansom Street.

Tickets are $20 (free for Inis Nua subscribers) and include a beverage and meat or veggie pie.
