A Wes Anderson-themed Burlesque?

To any nightlife fan in Philadelphia, it is no secret that the city’s burlesque scene is as strong — if not stronger — than it was in the art form’s heyday during the first half of the 20th century. Week after week, colorful and, of course, sexy performers grace beautiful stages and tantalize packed audiences with their own lively and often hilarious takes on music from every era.

EnVoute: Magic Burlesque is one of the city’s premiere burlesque troupes. On the last Sunday of every month, its rotating cast of stellar performers pack the gorgeous L’Etage stage in Queen Village to capacity with their unique shows. Curator “Adam,” who is also the founder of the equally successful Olde City Cabaret, ensures that his shows are always chock-full of entertainment that almost anyone can relate to.

This month, Adam and his troupe close out the summer with their show “An Ode to Wes Anderson,” which, as its name implies, celebrates the vibrant work of one of the most cherished independent directors in Hollywood.

Tickets for EnVoute’s “Ode to Wes Anderson” are $15 and can be bought in advance or at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show kicks off promptly at 8 p.m. In addition to the performances, audience members may also purchase raffle tickets for $1 apiece that promise “interesting prizes.”

Future EnVoute events at L’Etage include next month’s “Kinky Leather and Lace” show as well as a “21st Century Penny Dreadful” event.
