Hometown celebrity Kevin Hart will next week join Mayor Michael Nutter on a visit to several Philadelphia schools who will receive brand new laptop computers donated by the comedian.

Five hundred laptops will be donated to the city and school district — 200 to the city’s parks and rec department and 300 to schools.

“I am blessed to be in a position that allows me to give back to the city that made me who I am,” Hart said in a news release.

Hart and Nutter on Nov. 8 will visit the schools to meet with students, teachers and administrators.

William R. Hite, superintendent of Philadelphia schools, said the district is “extremely grateful” for the donation. “These computers will allow our students to expand their students, explore new course material, and prepare for college and careers for years to come.”

Also, 27 local recreation facilities will also get new computers through Hart’s donation. Susan Slawson, first deputy commissioner for recreation, said the gift will “provide access to computers that otherwise wouldn’t exist.”
