And the hits keep coming for the Eagles — literally.
Coach Andy Reid announced yesterday that Mike Vick has a “couple of broken ribs.” The quarterback was injured on the second offensive play of Sunday’s loss, when Daryl Washington drilled him as he threw the ball. Reid said Vick never asked to come out of the game, although he did leave briefly in the fourth quarter when he got the wind knocked out him.
“He didn’t say anything, not a word. He’s a tough nut,” Reid said.
Vick, who finished 14-of-36 for 128 yards and two interceptions, was very inaccurate for much of Sunday’s 21-17 defeat.
“I just feel like I’ve been through worse. If it was a situation I had to come out, I would have come out,” Vick said.
It’s unclear whether Vick will take the first-team reps at practice this week. The Eagles are off today before returning on Wednesday. Vince Young is expected to get the nod if Vick can’t go, but Reid wouldn’t name a starter.
“We’ll see how all of that goes,” the coach said.
