Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is expected to turn herself in to Montgomery Count Detectives Saturday afternoon ahead of her first court appearance in the perjury and official oppression case against her.
Kanewas charged on Thursday with leaking grand jury secrets in an attempt to embarrass Frank Fina,a rival prosecutor whom Kane believed to have been the source of a series of damaging reports in the Philadelphia Inquirer that questioned why she had spiked a bribery investigation centered on Philadelphia Democrats.
She will be processed by Montgomery County Detectives at 1:30 p.m. and then will be arraigned via before Magisterial District Judge Kathleen Kelly Rebar.
Kane said she will plead not guilty.
Once a rising star in the Democratic Party, she was embroiled in controversy over the leak investigation for more than a year.
Gov. Tom Wolf, a fellow Democrat, called on Kane to step down, a suggestion that the attorney general rejected.
