Airline employee charged with murdering coworker at Philly Airport

A worker at the Philadelphia Airport who allegedly killed his co-worker inside the airport has been charged with murder, police said on Friday.

Kevin Emanuel, 35, of Overbrook, was allegedly arrested by Airport Police after the stabbing at around 11 a.m. Thursday. He faces charges of murder and possession of an instrument of crime – referring to the keys he allegedly used to kill a man.

The victim, Aaron Jenkins, 28, of Olney, was reportedly found wounded by police inside an employee break room, and was pronounced dead around 11:51 a.m. at Penn Presbyterian Hospital.

Police said the stabbing was preceded by an argument. Emanuel had allegedly attacked another coworker after an argument relating to turning on the break room lights, in a fight that Jenkins broke up. After the other man left, Emanuel allegedly attacked Jenkins, and stabbed him in the upper left thigh with his keys, cutting the femoral artery and causing his death, the Inquirer reported.

The fatal attack took place within the secure area at the Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday afternoon, past the metal detectors, but employees are allowed to circumvent some security measures in place for the public.

Emanuel didn’t try to run, police said. “The defendant was stopped by Airport Police and taken into custody without incident,” a police report stated.
