Alec Bohm wins 1st NL Player of the Week Award

Major League Baseball has announced that Alec Bohm has won the National League Player of the Week award thanks to his performance last week.

Bohm has been on an absolute tear and has been one of the best players across baseball this season. Last week Bohm hit .567 and drove in 8 runs as the Phillies continued to win games and series.

This comes right after Trea Turner, Bohmer’s defensive partner on the left side of the field, won the same award. The Phillies have been dominating the awards early in the 2024 season.

Bohm is the Best?

This season has been a breakout for Alec Bohm.

The Phillies’ third basemen is enjoying the best start to a season since joining the Phils in the 2020 season. Bohm has had his fair share of ups and downs in the big leagues, especially his infamous “I hate it here” moment in 2022.

Since then, he has been a staple in the Phillies’ lineup, helping his squad reach back to back NL Championship series over the last two seasons.

As it stands, Alec Bohm has been playing like the best third baseman in Major League Baseball. He is outshining future Hall of Famers and some of the best in the game. Not only is he playing towards the top of third basemen, but amongst all positions as well.

Hot Corner

If anyone on this Phillies team is going to make the All-Star team, I think it might be Alec Bohm.

While Ranger Suarez, Zack Wheeler, and Trea Turner are making great cases for themselves, Alec’s meteoric rise is starting to turn heads. Due to his recent play, he is setting himself apart from the pack.

Playing for the same franchise as the greatest third baseman of all time, the youngster is bound to be compared to the likes of Mike Schmidt. By no means am I saying Alec is playing like Schmidt, but his impact on this year’s squad can be reminiscent to the way Mike had lead the Phillies’ in the ’70s and ’80s.

It has been a long time since the best hitter on the Phillies played the hot corner and while Bryce Harper and Trea Turner still exist, Alec Bohm is putting his name in the conversation for best hitter on the team.
