Alleged ‘Boys from Ardmore’ gang members charged with string of violent incidents

Prosecutors have charged three alleged members of the gang “Boys from Ardmore” with a spree of violence over six months.

Michael Allen, 24, Quron Brokenborough, 23, and Shaquille Allen, 22, are charged with aggravated assault and robbery for the various incidents, which occurred between November 2015 and April 2016 in Bryn Mawr and Ardmore.

The three alleged members of Boys From Ardmore (or BFA) were arrested Friday for a night of violence that began on Nov. 26, 2015 around 4 p.m. in Bryn Mawr Park and Playground, officials said.

According to the criminal complaint, the trio approached the victim in the playground before he fled to hide in a home on Prospect Avenue in Bryn Mawr. They gave chase, first forcing their way into the home where he was hiding and then getting into a dispute with the victim.

The three then fled to avoid police, but an hour later drove up alongside the victim and chased him again. A half-hour later, police were called to the scene of Michael Allen’s home, where they found one of the victim’s relatives, badly injured with a baseball bat, and gunshots were fired.

Later that evening, the victim and his family were again besieged at their home, with some of the defendants outside while one called the victim and threatened him, at one point saying, “You wouldn’t understand, I’m BFA, I have to do this.”

Despite several calls, the victim did not go outside. A few hours later around 10 p.m., he went to a nearby Wawa, where he was allegedly attacked by the defendants, then robbed of an iPhone and $500 in cash.

The final incident involved an April 23 assault of a man outside the American Legion Post in Ardmore with a brick or piece of cement. The victim, who was at a birthday party with his girlfriend and her family, sustained a concussion as a result.

Details were sketchy regarding the motives behind these attacks. A DA’s office staffer said prosecutors were unable to release any further details.

Each suspect was held on $100,000 bail. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 20.
