A 21-year-old “menace to society” will stand trial for the October 2009 fatal shooting of 18-year-old Ernest Howard near 57th and Master streets. Darryl “D-Nice” Young also faces February preliminary hearings for a triple shooting that occurred the night before Howard’s killing and the shooting death of a 19-year-old a month earlier.
Ernest Winston, who was there when his “24/7 best friend” was killed, initially identified Young as the killer because “[Howard] knew too much” about the earlier homicide. Authorities initially identified Young as a member of the “Lansdowne Avenue Boys” drug gang.
