A man is in custody after a police officer was shot while serving a warrant in connection to the investigation of a recent murder, ABC Philly reported. The officer, who remains unidentified, was shot on the 600 block of North Godfrey Street in Allentown on Tuesday night around 9:30 p.m.
RELATED:MissingAllentown5-year-old boy found dead in Lehigh Canal “As officers of our emergency response team were approaching the door, they were met by gunfire,” Allentown Police Chief Keith Morris told ABC Philly. “One of our officers was struck. That officer is in stable condition.” The police chief went on to explain that police engaged in gunfire with the individual who shot at the officers in the apartment. Neighbors reportedly heard officers using bullhorns and telling someone to drop their weapon during the hours-long standoff. RELATED:Previous offender arrested for taping kids in Dorney Park changing room The investigation in question is in regards to the body of an Asian woman who was found dumped in a recycling bin near 801 E. Tilghman St., WFMZ reported. Police are trying to identify the woman that ABC Philly reported as being “18-30 years old, about 5 feet tall, weighing about 119 pounds with short, black hair.”
