Police say they have located the three-year-old girl who was the subject of a multi-state Amber Alert after she was abducted by her father on Monday night.
Elinor Trotta, who was taken by her father, Michael Trotta, from East Basin Road in New Castle, Delaware, was located in Spencer, Mass., at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators say Michael Trotta, 43, went to his ex-girlfriend’s home at Schoolside Apartments in New Castle around 7 p.m. Monday evening. Police say he assaulted the woman and then fled with their daughter.
He will be charged with assault, carjacking, endangering the welfare of a child and related offenses, according to New Castle County Police. He also faces assault charges stemming from an incident on Feb. 15.
Police say they launched an aggressive, intense search for the 3-year-old girl that included the FBI and multiple law enforcement agencies.
Elinor’s mother, Dawn, is slated to fly to Massachusetts to be reunited with her little girl, police said.
